the image of Caesar is right, whether the silver is good or false, and whether it is of due weight; 17 wherefore he turneth it over much in his hand. 18 Ah, mad world! How prudent thou art in thy business, so that in the last day thou wilt reprove and judge the servants of God of negligence and carelessness, for without doubt thy servants are more prudent than the servants ([1] )of God. 19 Tell me, now who is he who examineth a thought as the banker a silver coin? 20 Assuredly no one.’

1 Then said James: ‘O master, how is the examination of a thought like unto [that of] a coin?’
2 Jesus answered: ‘the good silver in the thought is piety, because every impious thought cometh of the devil. 3 The right ( [2] ) image is the example of the holy ones and prophets, which we ought to follow; 4 and the weight of the thought is the love of God by which all ought to be done. 5 Whereupon the enemy

صورة قيصر صحيحة وهل الفضة صحيحة أم كاذبة وهل هي من العيار المعهود 17 لذلك يقبلها كثيرا في يده 18 أيها العالم المجنون ما أحكمك في شغلك حتى أنك في اليوم الأخير توبخ وتحكم على خدم الله بالإهمال والتهاون لأن خدمك دون ريب أحكم من خدم ( [3] ) الله 19 قولوا لي إذا من يمتحن فكرا كما يمتحن الصيرفي قطعة نقود فضية ؟ 20 لا أحد مطلقا .
الفصل الخامس والسبعون (ا)
1 حينئذ قال يعقوب : يا معلم كيف يكون امتحان الفكر شبيها بامتحان قطعة نقود ؟ 2 أجاب يسوع : أن الفضة الجيدة في الفكر إنما هي التقوى لأن كل فكر عار من التقوى يأتي من الشيطان 3 والصورة ( [4] )الصحيحة إنما هي قدوة الأطهار والأنبياء التي يجب علينا اتباعها 4 وزِنة الفكر إنما هي محبة الله التي يجب أن يعمل بموجبها كل شيء 5 ولذلك يأتي العدو
