soil; but the vineyard hath not borne fruit, so I cannot pay thee.”
13 Whereupon the lord called the third and with wonder said: “Thou saidst to me that this man, to whom I let out the second vineyard, taught thee perfectly to cultivate the vineyard which I let out to thee. 14 How then can it be that the vineyard I let out to him should not have borne fruit, seeing it is all one soil?”
15 The third answered: “lord, the vines are not cultivated by talking only, but he needs must sweat a shirt every day who willeth to make it bring forth its fruit. 16 And how shall thy vineyard of thy vinedresser bear fruit, O lord, if he doth naught but waste the time in talking? 17 Sure it is, O lord, that if he had put into practice his own words, [while] I who cannot talk so much have given thee the rent for two years, he would have given thee the rent of the vineyard for five years.”
18 ‘The lord was wroth, and said with scorn to the vinedresser: “and so thou hast wrought a great work in not cutting away the wood and levelling the vineyard, wherefore there is owing to thee a great reward!” 19 And having called his servants

الأرض والكرم لم يأت بثمر فلذلك لا أقدر أن أدفع لك “ 13 ثم دعا السيد الثالث وقال له بإنذهال : " لقد قلت لي أن هذا الرجل الذي أجرته الكرم الثاني قد أتم تعليمك حراثة الكرم الذي أجرتك إياه 14 فكيف يمكن أن لا يأتي الكرم الذي أجرته إياه هو بثمر مع أن التربة واحدة ؟" 15 أجاب الثالث : " يا سيد إن الكرم لا يحرث بالكلام فقط بل على من يريد استئجاره أن ينضح منه كل يوم عرق قميص 16 وكيف يأتي أيها السيد كرم كرّامِك بثمر وهو لا يفعل سوى إضاعة الوقت بالكلام ؟ 17 ولا ريب أيها السيد في أنه لو عمل ما قال لأعطاك أجرة الكرم لخمس سنين لأني أنا الذي لا أقدر على الكلام كثيرا أعطيتك أجرة سنتين " 18 فحنق السيد وقال للكرّام بازدراء : " إذا أنت قد عملت عملا عظيما بعدم زبر الأشجار وتمهيد الكرم فلك إذا علي جزاء عظيم!" 19 ثم دعا خدمه
