of Moses ( [1] ), they took the child and carried him to the temple to circumcise him.2 And so they circumcised the child, and gave him the name Jesus, as the angel of the lord had said before he was conceived in the womb. 3 Mary and Joseph perceived that the child must needs be for the salvation and ruin of many. 4 Wherefore they feared God, and kept the child with fear of God.

 

[6] Three magi are led by a star in the east to Judaea, and,

finding Jesus, make obeisance to ( [2] ) him and gifts.

 

1 In the reign of Herod, king of Judaea, when Jesus was born ( [3] ),

three magi in the parts of the east were observing the stars of heaven. 2 whereupon appeared to them a star of great brightness, wherefore having concluded among themselves, they came to Judaea, guided by the star, which went before them( [4] ), 3 and having arrived at Jerusalem they asked where was born the King of the Jews. 4 And when Herod heard this he was affrighted, and all the city was troubled. Herod therefore called together the priests and the scribes, saying: ‘where should Christ be born? 5 ’ They answered that he should be  born in Bethlehem; for

 

 

موسى  ( [5] ) أخذا الطفل واحتملاه إلى الهيكل ليختناه 2 فختنا الطفل وسمياه يسوع كما قال الملاك قبل أن حبل به في الرحم 3 فعلمت مريم ويوسف أن الطفل سيكون لخلاص وهلاك كثيرين 4 لذلك اتقيا الله وحفظا الطفل وربياه على خوف الله .

 

الفصل السادس

نجم من المشرق يهدي ثلاثة من المجوس إلى اليهودية

فيرون يسوع ويسجدون ( [6])ويقدمون له هدايا

 

1 لما ولد يسوع في زمن ( [7] ) هيرودس ملك اليهودية كان ثلاثة من المجوس في أنحاء المشرق يرقبون نجوم السماء 2 فتبدى لهم نجم شديد التألق فتشاوروا من ثم فيما بينهم وجاءوا إلى اليهودية يهديهم النجم الذي يتقدمهم ( [8] ) 3 فلما بلغوا أورشليم سألوا : أين ولد ملك اليهود ؟4 فلما سمع هيرودس ذلك ارتاع واضطربت المدينة كلها فجمع من ثم هيرودس الكهنة والكتبة قائلا : أين يولد المسيح 5 فأجابوا : إنه يولد في بيت لحم لأنه
