‘If thy brother shall sin against thee, go and correct him. 14 If he amend, rejoice, for thou hast gained thy brother; 15 but if he shall not amend go and call afresh two witnesses and correct him afresh; 16 and if he shall not amend, go and tell it to the church; 17 and if he shall not then amend, count him for an unbeliever ( [1] ), 18 and therefore thou shalt not dwell under the same roof whereunder he dwelleth, 19 thou shalt not eat at the same table whereat he sitteth, 20 and thou shalt not speak with him; 21 insomuch that if thou know where he setteth his foot in walking thou shalt not set thy foot there.’

1 ‘But beware that thou hold not thyself for better ( [2] ); 2 rather shalt thou say thus: “Peter, Peter, if God (b) helped thee not with his grace thou wouldst be worse than he.”’
3 Peter answered: ‘how must I correct him?’
4 Jesus answered: ‘In the way that thou thyself wouldst fain be corrected. And as thou wouldst fain be borne with, so bear with others. 6 Believe me, Peter, for verily

إذا أخطأ أخوك إليك فأذهب وأصلحه 14 فإذا هو إصطلح فتهلل لأنك قد ربحت اخاك 15 وإن لم يصطلح فاذهب وادعي شاهدين وأصلحه أيضا 16 فإذا لم يصطلح فأخبر الكنيسة بذلك 17 فإن لم يصطلح حينئذ فاحسبه كافرا ( [3] ) 18 ولذلك لا تسكن سقف البيت الذي يسكنه 19 و لا تأكل على المائدة التي يجلس إليها 20 ولا تكلمه 21 حتى إنك إن علمت أين يضع قدمه أثناء المشي فلا تضع قدمك هناك.
الفصل الثامن والثمانون (ا)
1 ولكن احذر من أن تحسب نفسك أفضل منه ( [4] ) 2 بل يجب عليك أن تقول هكذا : بطرس بطرس إنك لو لم يساعدك الله ( ب ) لكنت شرا منه 3 أجاب بطرس: كيف يجب أن أصلحه ؟ 4 فأجاب يسوع : بالطريقة التي تحب أنت نفسك أن تصلح بها 5 فكما تريد أن تعامل بالحلم هكذا عامل الآخرين 6 صدقني يا بطرس لأني أقول لك
