For even as God is one (a), so is the faith one (b)( [2] ). 4 Wherefore God, having created before all things his messenger (c), gave to him before aught else the faith which is as it were a likeness ( [3] )of God and of all that God hath done and said. 5 And so the faithful by faith seeth all things, better that one seeth with his eyes; 6 because the eyes can err, nay they do almost always err; 7 but faith ereth never, for it hath for foundation God and his word. 8 Believe me that by faith are saved all the elect of God. 9 and it is certain that without faith it is impossible for any one to please God ( [4] ). 10 wherefore Satan seeketh not to bring to naught fasting and prayer, alms and pilgrimages,

تلاميذ يسوع إليه ففتح فاه وقال : 2 اقترب يا يوحنا لأني اليوم سأجيبك عن كل ما سألت 3 الإيمان خاتم يختم الله به مختارية وهو خاتم أعطاه لرسوله الذي أخذ كل مختار الإيمان على يديه ([5] ) فالإيمان واحد (ا) كما أن الله واحد (ب)( [6] ) لذلك لما خلق الله قبل كل شئ رسوله (ج) وهبه قبل كل شئ الإيمان الذي هو بمثابة صورة ( [7] ) (حب) الله وكل ما صنع الله وما قال 5 فيرى المؤمن بإيمانه كل شئ أجلى من رؤيته إياه بعينيه 6 لأن العينين قد تخطئان بل تكادان تخطئان على الدوام 7 أما الإيمان فلن يخطئ لأن أساسه الله وكلمته 8 صدقني إنه بالإيمان يخلص كل مختاري الله 9 ومن المؤكد أنه بدون إيمان لا يمكن لأحد أن يرضي الله ( [8])10 لذلك لا يحاول الشيطان أن يبطل الصوم والصلاة والصدقات والحج
